Technology R&D to deliver software faster
SRT Solutions gives each of its developers dedicated learning time. It’s essentially software research and development. Collectively, we brainstorm ideas and technologies that we feel need further exploration. Some learning time projects focus on a specific programming language, like Adobe’s Flex. Other projects look at new products and features, like Android or iPhone/iPad. In all cases, the goals include:
- To further develop our software expertise;
- To assess how these ideas and technologies effect real-world software projects;
- and, To fill gaps we find in the software toolbox.
We invest 15% of our revenue into learning time. For a small service based company, that’s a healthy R&D budget. But it’s essential to our success. We stay abreast of new technologies. And sometimes, we create them.
